terminal papilla
t

A schematic representation of a small part of the distal lamellar segment in the hoof wall showing the terminal papilla (d) on the end of each dermal lamella (a). The terminal horn (e, f) growing down from the termial papillae fills the gaps beween the horny lamellae from the wall segment (g). In combination, these two layers form the white line (between the coronary horn and the solar horn).

Terminal papillae at the end of the dermal lamellae

terminal papilla

The papillae that extend from the end of the dermal lamellae. Each lamellum terminates in several papillae. Together with the lamellar horn of the stratum internum, the horn tubules grown from these papillae create the white line.
