immunity

Immunity refers to the body's ability to combat a specific disease inducing pathogen (bacteria, viruses etc.). The biological defence systems that are responsible for immunity are a part of the immune system. Vaccinating against a certain disease creates immunity without the body having to first suffer the effects of the disease.
