A wolf tooth is a small tooth (a fraction of the size of a normal molar) located just in front of the first premolar (P2). It is frequently (but not always) found in the upper jaw, rarely also in the lower jaw. These teeth are the vestigial remains of the actual first premolar (P1), and may cause discomfort to the horse when being ridden with a bit. Surgical removal of these teeth with specialised tools is a frequently performed and quick procedure.
