Other potential complications

• Supporting limb laminitis; laminitis in the opposing , ‘healthy’ limb if the horse does not want to bear weight on the affected limb for longer periods of time 

• Cellulitis

• Complicated hoof abscess

• Local infections of the soft tissues and/or synovial structures with resistant bacteria 

• Septicaemia

• Pedal osteitis, pedal bone fracture

• Tetanus (lockjaw)
