Rounding or bevelling of the edges of the horseshoe as a part of the finishing process. Safeing is generally used to refer to the rounding of the outer edges (incl. heels) of the ground side. The term boxing(-off) is sometimes used to refer to the rounding of the outer edge of the foot facing side, although safeing can be applied to both. These measures are to prevent injury through the sharp edges of the shoe (hence the term 'safeing').
