Hippidion

Hippidon emerged from Dinohippus and was the last Equid which lived on the American continent before horses became extinct in this part of the world. With a wither height of 1.6 to 1.7 m it was of an impressive size comparable to modern riding horses. Hippidon was still present in South America during the latest ice age, but it became extinct shortly after. Its extinction is possibly linked to the appearance of humans in South America.
